General Counsel

Having served Stream Energy for several years as one of its leading outside lawyers, Vanessa Rush joined the firm in October 2010 as its General Counsel. In such capacity Vanessa oversees, among other things, the contract management and non-regulatory legal compliance efforts existing at Stream Energy as well as its litigation management function.

Prior to joining the firm, Vanessa practiced commercial litigation as Senior Counsel with the Dallas law firm of Gruber Hurst Johansen & Hail, with emphases on appellate practice, employment law and intellectual property litigation. Vanessa began her legal career in 1999 as a law clerk on the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals in Austin, Texas. The following year, Vanessa began private practice with the Jackson Walker law firm in its San Antonio office.

Vanessa is licensed to practice in Texas as well as in all Federal district courts in Texas, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.

A native of Boston, Vanessa holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brown University, where she majored in history and philosophy and a Juris Doctorate from Boston University School of Law, where she graduated with a concentration, with honors, in Litigation and Dispute Resolution. Vanessa was named a Rising Star by Texas Monthly’s Super Lawyers edition for four years in a row before becoming ineligible in 2010 due to old age.
