Ignite Attracts Thousands to Maryland Convention Center Conference
Event Advocates Direct Sales in Deregulated Energy Market
DALLAS (May 2, 2011) – Ignite, the largest network marketer of energy in America, officially launched service in the BGE and Pepco service areas in a huge event at the Maryland Convention Center Saturday, April 30th. During the event, more than 2,100 Ignite sales associates learned how to carve out an income by marketing electricity to their friends and neighbors in Maryland.
Ignite, and its parent company, Stream Energy, announced arrival into the state earlier this year. “We just recently entered the deregulated Maryland electricity market, but already we have seen a great deal of interest in the one-on-one education we provide consumers,” said Chairman Rob Snyder. “Maryland deregulation appears to be a very good match for our business model of direct sales to customers,” he added.
At the all-day conference, Ignite and Stream Energy presented a $5,000 donation to the Maryland-based Fuel Fund of Maryland, which provides utility assistance to low-income residents. Since its founding in 1981, Fuel Fund of Maryland has assisted as many as 18,000 individuals each year. Mary Ellen Vanni, Executive Director of Fuel Fund, was on hand to accept the donation.
In Maryland, Ignite and Stream Energy are expecting to continue the momentum they have enjoyed since their establishment in the deregulated Texas electricity market six years ago. The approach in Texas was an astounding success, propelling Ignite and Stream Energy to almost $1 billion in annual sales and acquiring 400,000 customers in Texas and Georgia (where the firm launched natural gas service in 2008). The firm’s expansion into the Pennsylvania electricity market in late 2010, along with its growth in Maryland, has added more than 75,000 customers within a few short months.
Dallas-based Stream Energy is the longest-tenured direct seller of deregulated energy in America. Moreover, Stream Energy’s business model (evoked by the catch phrase “It’s OK to switch. Really®”) is helping promote the successful deregulation of retail energy services in the states the firm has entered.
